Put-in-Bay Senior Center News May 2012
Put In Bay Senior Center would like to start out this month by expressing heartfelt gratitude to the Put in Bay Recreation Committee for your continued support throughout the year for our program and all our activities at the Put In Bay Senior Center. Your incredible generosity is so very much appreciated by all the seniors and our staff. With your help, we can offer a first-rate program for all the seniors of South Bass Island. And for that, we are very grateful. We have been both fortunate and blessed by your kindness.
Each May is observed nationwide as Older Americans Month. This month, we like to celebrate all our older citizens’ contributions to society. It is a chance for communities to give back and recognize the accomplishments of their elders. It is also a time to promote aging actively and encourage everyone, regardless of age, to live life to the fullest.
I LOVE that motto and plan to take that sentiment and run with it!!! Our seniors here on South Bass Island are incredibly active and always vivacious when attacking a new project or activity. This makes creating an exciting yet diversified calendar somewhat challenging – but lots of fun! I am working on our summer program and would like your input.
You are all invited to attend our May 4th Put In Bay Senior Center Site Meeting and bring your creative ideas to the table. And let me tell you, this group is game for just about anything! By the way, Ohio’s theme for Older Americans Month 2012 is: “NEVER TOO
OLD too…” can you imagine what our seniors can do with this theme?!? Please be sure to check the “Calendar of Events” in the
Put-In-Bay Gazette for all our activities scheduled this month.
Here is just a quick rundown for the next few weeks: Wednesday, May 2nd at 3:15 pm. Computer Classes for Seniors at the Put In Bay School are provided by the Put In Bay Computer Club. I encourage all seniors to attend this crucial meeting and express their opinions and/or suggestions for our Put In Bay Senior Center. Monday, May 7th, guest speakers from Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home will be here to discuss the benefits to you and your family on prearranging your funeral and the different options available for funding your funeral plan.
