Put-in-Bay Pink Day Coming Up
August 5 marks the 5th “Annual Put-in-Bay Pink Day at the Bay,” Supporting Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio. Put-in-Bay Ohio will support the “Put-in-Bay Pink Day at the Bay” on August 5th. In support of Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio and its 24th Annual Race for the Cure in Toledo, Team LuLu is working with the Komen Affiliate to decorate for the Put-in-Bay Pink Day and fund Race for a Cure. The Northwest Ohio Komen Affiliate will be on Lake Erie Island to provide breast health information and encourage Race for the Cure participation.
Members of Team LuLu, including team leader Cheryl Wendt, will be on hand to sell pink beads while wearing fun costumes to show support of the fight against breast cancer. All proceeds from Put-in-Bay Pink Day benefit Susan G. Komen Northwest and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The Komen Northwest Ohio Affiliate was founded by Nancy G. Brinker, who promised her sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would end the disease that claimed Suzy’s life.
Komen is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, funding more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit outside of the United States Government while providing real-time help to those facing the disease. Since its founding in 1982, Komen has funded more $3 billion in funding to research screening, education, treatment, and psycho-social support programs serving millions of people in more than 30 countries worldwide.
