Art Gallery Coming To Put-in-Bay
Wyland Put-in-Bay Art Gallery to Open in May.-First Show to Feature Stephen Muldoon PUT-IN-BAY, Ohio – Put-in-Bay’s Wyland Gallery, 495 Catawba Ave., will open for the 2013 summer season in May and present “artist in residence” appearances by two leading creative talents. The Put-in-Bay Art gallery features the work of renowned artist and environmentalist Wyland and other acclaimed painters and sculptors.
Stephen Muldoon, known for his Put-in-Bay Art Gallery creations, will unveil his most recent paintings Friday through Sunday, May 17-19. Muldoon is known for his nautical scenes and impressionistic sunset views; Muldoon has recently applied his artistry to copper sheeting. Because of the medium, the colors in the images change as viewers move past them, creating a unique viewing experience.
Art Gallery To Feature Numerous Mediums
“Copper has been an artistic medium for centuries,” he said. “My new collection layers patinas with paints to produce stunning depth, luminescence, and life from this age-old medium.” Muldoon created Put-in-Bay Art for years at the site of the current Edgewater Hotel, where he advanced his art career by doing airbrush creations for Put-in-Bay Tourists for several years.
Muldoon will be followed by Steven Quartly, scheduled to debut his latest canvases at a Memorial Day Weekend show set for Thursday through Monday, May 23-27, at the art gallery. Quartly’s travels in Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean have inspired his impressionistic landscapes, seascapes, and street scenes.
In addition, he has recently begun working with a palette knife to paint contemporary floral abstracts. “I am continuing with the romantic European and tropical subjects,” Quarterly said, “as well as expanding into a California romantic theme.”
Both artists will be on hand daily at the art gallery and by appointment. Put-in-Bay Art lovers are invited to meet them and view their new creations during their May shows at Wyland Gallery at 495 Catawba Ave. For more information, call (419) 285-2233 or visit www.wylandkw.com
