Ohio State Marching Band Performs At Put-in-Bay!
With the Ohio State Buckeyes NCAA Football season suffering from delays like many programs and venues, rivalry week is a little late this year! This powerful rivalry dating back over 100 years is set to come to a head this coming Saturday! No matter who you root for, this is always a special game full of emotion, jokes, and spirit.
While COVID-19 has dealt setbacks to Americans nationwide The Best Damn Band In The Land The Ohio State University Marching Band continues to set the bar for excellence in every appearance they make. Let’s take a look back at a special moment a few years ago when The Ohio State Band came to Put-in-Bay for the first time in history!
The Ohio State Marching Band Always A Class Act
It was the Put-in-Bay bicentennial celebration, Put-in-Bay Hotels were packed and a record number of tourists were on the island to witness this spectacular event. If you’re from Ohio, you need no further explanation why this was such a great Put-in-Bay occasion. If you’re from somewhere else, and you’re thinking, “A marching band, what’s so great about that?”
Arriving in style aboard the Miller Ferry occupying the entire deck normally reserved for cars, the Ohio State Marching Band sang, strutted, and played their way onto land with a style only they could accomplish performing many of their greatest hits through history. As they arrived in downtown Put-in-Bay, they marched the length of Delaware Avenue with thousands cheering them on and many following at the tail end of the march!
As people inland got word of what was happening, they gathered along Put-in-Bay’s shoreline to get a glimpse as the band delighted the crowds on their boats in the harbor and dining at the restaurants on the water. Every Put-in-Bay Golf Cart Rental stopped dead in their tracks to capture this amazing site!
The Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial Performance
Later that evening the Ohio State Marching Band band gave a memorable performance at Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial, performing the William Tell Overture, the National Anthem, and many other popular hits. September 1, 2013, and the Ohio State Marching Band visit will remain one of the greatest moments in Put-in-Bay History.
