Discovered on Catawba Avenue, less than a mile from downtown, Perry’s Cave is the epicenter of fun on Put-in-Bay. This island organization has entertained households for years, and visiting Perry’s is undoubtedly an island tradition.

Spending an entire day here or making multiple trips while staying on the island is easy. The center was constructed around Perry’s Cave, a limestone cave with a subterranean lake.
Put-in-Bay’s ecology is fascinating and unusual, and Perry’s Cave shows off this little island’s attractiveness. Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry uncovered the cave in 1813 and used the water to quench his troops’ thirst when they required it the most. A tour of Perry’s Cave is a must before or after a trip through Fort Amazen.
