Annual Volleyball Tournament At Put-in-Bay
For over 40 years, volleyball participants have arrived in Put-in-Bay, Ohio, to compete in this two-day-long tournament. More than 1,000 participants partake in co-ed six-member teams and a day-long volleyball tournament hosted by Lakeview Volleyball. The night before the volleyball tournament, a pre-registration players reception is open to all participants at The Sand Bar at Adventure Bay.
On the tournament day, participants check in from 8-9 AM, and the competition begins at 9 AM on McCann Field and the local softball field just a short walk from downtown Put in Bay. Lakeview Volleyball organizes the tournament and includes t-shirts for all players, music provided by a DJ, and prizes for 1st and 2nd place in each division.
Lakeview Put-in-Bay Volleyball Tournament Format
Co-ed teams are required. Six players on grass with a minimum of two female players on the court. USAV outdoor rules apply, and there will not be a girl-hit rule; however, the “Rec” division is a beginner or “fun division” with informal regulations. If your team is competitive to the point that you will be worried about “setting hands” and “lifts,” then you will need to register in the more competitive groups(C or higher)
Organizers will be looking for 5 and 4 Team pools that way. All teams will have an average of 8 games during pool play. If you get in a 4 team pool, you will get six games of more extended scoring. We would like to avoid 6 team pools if possible.
A rated player must compete in at least one pool play game and be on the signed team roster to play in the playoffs for that team. You may not sign up and play for numerous teams. The tournament Administrators reserve the liberty to make any required roster changes due to unforeseen occurrences.
Volleyball Tournamant Pre-Regsitration
No money will be taken on Saturday of play! Pre-register your squad online utilizing the online form found here. You can then mail a check to the address listed below, pay online, or pay at the pre-check-in party. Tournament T-shirts will be provided to teams registered AND paid on/before July 31st. Registering more than six people will cost $20 per additional shirt.
To get your net assignment for Saturday, you must have at least one member present, and the team paid for in full on Friday at the Pre-check in. The team waiver may be turned in Friday or Saturday, but it ABSOLUTELY MUST be signed by all participants and turned in by Saturday morning before the competition starts!
In maintaining the festive spirit of the island, there is also a team theme competition, where teams dress up as superheroes, TV characters, zombies, and other outrageous subjects.
