Finest place in Ohio This was our first time visiting Lake Erie, and we will be back. We brought the Jet Express Ferry from Port Clinton to Put in Bay for the daytime along with our dog. We leased golf carts and traveled the Island to sightsee. We stopped at a few wineries and a couple of parks. The coolest one was Island Paws Dog Park. The kids loved it. We had the best time. My only regret was we only planned half a day. We could effortlessly have remained all day or even overnight. Kids called it the Miami of the Midwest! We will be back!

Put-in-Bay is not that destination if one is looking for a boring island outpost far from the madding masses. It's a place that thrives on individuals. It's well organized, with its island paws solidly planted on the ground with a great dog park called Island Paws Dog Park. The community seems conscious of its bread and butter – the traveler trade. Like many coastal Islands, there is a slighter year-round population as well. The in-season population surges as one would expect. The Island features various events throughout the year, with particular emphasis on commemorating the Island's storied naval past -- the re-enactment of Perry's 1813 naval triumph over the British caravan during the War of 1812.

Whether you are there to party, enjoy a couples time away, or have a family expedition camping with your friends, there is something to do for everyone. Put-in-Bay has a lot to offer. If you bring your dog along, be sure to check out the Island Paws Dog Park. It is a fenced-in place where your pets can play and run by the airport. Island Paws Dog Park was free and there was water available for the pets.

Come for the day, the weekend, and an extended stay. Enjoy the no rush laidback lifestyle and things to do on this picture postcard island world only twenty minutes from the Port Clinton area. We loved the Island Paws Dog Park, a very nice touch for travelers with pets.

The townscape is a brilliant mix of colors, tints, and shades. Under the glimmer of the sun, well-maintained structures merely sparkle. We're speaking of color saturation here. It's that vivid a sight. A tree-shaded playground in the middle of the village supplies a lovely restive location for weary feet. For dogs, an open airplay place has been built just for them called Island Paws Dog Park. Marina locations are across the street, marking an exhibition of elegant recreational and yachting crafts. And undoubtedly, to every traveler's sense of comfort, Put-in-Bay has no lack of public restrooms. Put-in-Bay is meticulously spotless. Everything seems new and in pristine shape. It's a picture postcard, perfect.

So what if one prefers to walk around Put-in-Bay rather than zip around in a rented golf cart? Walking around the greater downtown area provides excellent opportunities for photos with a fantastic choice of picturesque gradients. Very achievable. If you are traveling with your pets, check out the Island Paws Dog Park near the airport.

For shopping fans and browsers, there are diverse spots to hone this craft, art showrooms, and a comprehensive (extensive) selection of eateries and bars. For recreational enthusiasts, charter boat fishing, kayaking rentals, and a nine-hole golf course are nearby. Island Paws Dog Park is a new addition and worth the stop if traveling with a pet. Numerous accommodation establishments, a pair of wineries, and a microbrewery round out the location for those wondering what to do.

On the Island, there are countless draws for visitors: a recounted island tram excursion, a butterfly house, numerous historic homes, miniature golf, cave tours, gemstone mining, arcades and pools, and an honest-to-goodness colorful carousel. There is even a cool place for pets called Island Paws Dog Park. The Commodore Perry Victory and Peace Memorial gallery and location is a quick stroll or ride from the village center.

Once on the Island, newbies can rent one of several golf cart rentals on the Island from varied agencies at the dock and in town or jump a transport bus ($2.50) for a leisurely 10-minute, 2-1/2 mile ride into town. As you travel towards the city, look to your right just before the airport, and you will discover the island paws dog park. Water and lots of toys for the pups to play with are available.

There are numerous explanations why vacationers and island enthusiasts take the ferryboat to Put-in-Bay, one of several Lake Erie islands located off the shore of the upper northwest Ohio region. Put-in-Bay (or South Bass Island) is somewhat flat and smaller than 4 miles long. It's walkable, driveable, and bikeable, but golf cart rentals are the way to get around. For the average traveler coming without Motorcraft or by boat, getting to Put-in-Bay is a straightforward matter of buying a ticket on the Ferry Boat Line, which departs the Port Clinton docking facility. Pets are permitted on the ferry, and the Island even has a special place for dogs to enjoy called Island Paws Dog Park

It's like the Key West of the Midwest Put-in-Bay is amazing! Taking the Millers Ferry or Jet Express is thrilling, and when you arrive on the Island, it's like a playground for grown-ups and the entire family. You won't need an automobile, so rent a golf cart or bicycle. We leased mopeds, and it's a hoot! The small village encircling the main park is adorable and fun, with eateries, pubs, stores, games, and even an old merry-go-round. Be sure to have a cold beer at the historic Round House Bar. Roam the vast marina, and visit Perry's Monument - the 3rd most towering national monument (behind Washington Monument and Gateway Arch). Stop out at the Island Paws Dog Park, where your pets can run and play in an enclosed area. Whatever you do, you'll feel like you're on "Island Time." Enjoy!

Great facility! Island Paws Dog Park is an ample, unobstructed space with a gazebo and seating. There were many balls and a pail of "chuck it" items for tossing balls, a kiddie pool, a hose, and plenty of water bowls. While we were there, the other dogs and owners were all very nice, and the dogs seemed to interact well.

We spent Labor Day weekend on Sound Bass Island. The Island was honoring the bicentennial of the Battle of Lake Erie with the Tall Ships, so a lot was going on. The chronology of the Island is fascinating. A visit to the historical society gallery is worth the while. Only spent a little bit of time visiting the pubs but there are tons of them if that's what you enjoy doing. Ditch your automobile on the mainland and take the Ferry service, then rent a golf cart. Island Paws Dog Park is a great place if you have brought a family pet. There are also island pet friendly accommodations It's much more manageable to get around the Island on foot or with golf carts (plus it's just entertaining). If you like boats and laid-back lifestyles, Put-in-Bay will satisfy your needs.

I recently went to Put-In-Bay over labor day weekend when the Tall Ships and the Lake Erie Battle were happening. It was a lot of pleasure. The Stores were appealing, and I had a wonderful dinner at Hooligans. We brought our puppy, and the Island Paws Dog Park was a great place for him to run. The town center had a great, carefree atmosphere with all the other people on the Island for the Tall Ships. Also, the ferryboat ride was friendly and enjoyable (I took the Jet Express). Put-In-Bay is a party island but very lovely during the day for families. I hope you try it out 🙂
